JumpStars trampolining sessions

27th February 2017

  • Trampoline parks are all the rage at the moment – but for many children with disabilities or additional needs, the loud music and flashing disco lights can be overwhelming.

From 21 March 2017, we will be running monthly trampolining sessions for children and young people with additional needs and their siblings at the brand-new Jump Inc. centre near Meadowhall.

Sessions will take place on the third Tuesday of the month at 6-7pm. There will be no loud music or flashing lights, and the jump tower will be closed.

The cost is just £4 for anyone (child or adult) who wants to enter the jump area – that’s less than half the normal price! You will also need to buy Jump Inc. grip socks at a price of £1.50 per pair – a bit annoying we know, but you’ll be able to wash them and use them again. There is no charge for parents who just want to sit in the café area and watch their children on the trampolines. Hot and cold food will be available to purchase.

Jump Inc. staff will be on hand to assist the children using the trampolines. However, parents must supervise their children at all times to ensure they adhere to the safety rules – so no nipping into Meadowhall for a bit of retail therapy!

Sessions are open to children and young people of all ages. However, children under the age of six must be accompanied in the jump area by an adult. For some of the activities, children must be at least 1.25m tall. To ensure the safety of all participants, the Jump Tower and Parkour area will be closed during this session.

Sheffield Parent Carer Forum staff and volunteers will be available to talk to parents and provide peer support and signposting. We also hope to use the sessions to learn more about parents’ experiences and feed them back to the local authority and other partners.

Session dates for 2017 are: 21 March, 18 April, 16 May, 20 June, 18 July, 19 September, 17 October, 21 November and 19 December (no session in August).
