Making a splash at Ponds Forge
19th May 2011
-
Disabled children and their families turned out in their droves on Sunday 15th May to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon at Ponds Forge, organised by the Forum with funding from Sheffield City Council.
Around 200 people attended the event, including over 80 children who took part in a programme of activities, including swimming, trampolining, arts and crafts, street dance and ball sports.
“It was great to be able to go out as a family and not have to worry about my son’s behaviour and other people’s reactions,” said a mum. “My children loved every minute of it!”
But the event wasn’t just about fun and games. While the children enjoyed the free activities, parents had a chance to find out about new childcare initiatives and to make contact with specialist childminders and student practitioners/volunteers looking to provide childcare for disabled children.
