Celebrating our incredible volunteers! Congratulations to Marc, our Volunteer of the Quarter

As part of our ongoing commitment to our fantastic volunteers we are introducing a Volunteer of the Quarter initiative. Four times a year we will celebrate one of our volunteers for all they do to support us here at Sheffield Parent Carer Forum.
To kick things off, this month, we are delighted to recognise Marc as our very first Volunteer of the Quarter. As one of our dedicated document review volunteers, Marc has provided valuable comments and feedback on a range of documents, helping to ensure information is clear, relevant, and accessible for families. Marc’s thoughtful contributions have been warmly received by the organisations seeking feedback, highlighting the positive impact of his work. In particular, Marc went above and beyond by offering a redraft of one document to make it more parent-friendly and easier to understand. Marc’s commitment, attention to detail, and willingness to use his skills to support others make him truly deserving of this recognition. Thank you Marc for your continued support to SPCF! In recognition of our thanks Marc will receive a £20 Amazon voucher.
Come and volunteer with us!
We are on a volunteer recruitment drive here at Sheffield Parent Carer Forum and since April we have recruited fourteen fantastic new volunteers to help run our peer support events, support delivery of our neuro-disability professional training sessions and help us ensure communications to families are parent friendly.
Do you have some spare time to support us with volunteering, or do you know someone you think might be interested in volunteering with us? Volunteering with Sheffield Parent Carer Forum is a great way to support parent carers, build new skills, enhance your CV, and connect with the community, all while helping us fulfil our mission to connect, inform and empower others.
We are currently recruiting for the following roles:
Community Outreach Volunteer: Help raise awareness of Sheffield Parent Carer Forum by identifying local venues to display materials, support distribution, and represent us at events such as school fairs. Confidence in engaging with the public and sharing accurate information is key.
Peer Support Volunteer: Support our coffee mornings and information sessions by welcoming families, assisting staff, and offering a friendly, listening ear. This role is ideal for parent carers who are patient, understanding and can provide reassurance to others.
Dads Group Volunteer: Are you a dad or male carer of a child or young person with SEND? We’re looking for friendly, compassionate volunteers to help facilitate our session for dads and male carers at Stephen Harrison Snooker Academy, support attendees, and provide a listening ear as the group grows.
Training Support Volunteer: Are you passionate about improving understanding of autism and ADHD? As a Training Support Volunteer, you’ll help deliver engaging sessions to professionals by preparing materials, supporting activities, and creating a welcoming learning environment. This is a great role for someone who loves working with people and wants to help drive real change in how neurodiversity is understood and supported.
If you’re interested, you can find more details on our website here or email our Volunteer Coordinator, Amy, at volunteering@sheffieldparentcarerforum.org.uk for an informal chat about any of the roles.
