• A new wheelchair accessible water play area is due to open at Rivelin Valley Park on 13th July 2013. Three of the original paddling pools have been turned into a Splash Pad with brightly-coloured areas of water jets, sprays and interactive water play features. One of the pools has been kept for paddling, but now has a wheelchair accessible ramp. Aqua wheelchairs are available for loan.

  Some of the funding for the work came from the Aiming High for Disabled Children initiative, which aimed to improve services for disabled children and their families.  A Changing Places room has also been installed, to meet the needs of disabled people and their carers.

  The Splash Pad will be open for play at weekends and in the school summer holidays.
