Are you passionate about supporting families with children and young people with SEND? We are currently recruiting volunteers to support us in our work here at Sheffield Parent Carer Forum. We have a range of exciting, flexible roles available, and your time could make a real difference in our community.
We are looking for the following volunteer roles:
Peer Support Volunteer
Looking for a rewarding volunteer role supporting families of children with SEND? We are seeking friendly, empathetic volunteers to help run our coffee mornings and information sessions – welcoming families, making refreshments, supporting staff or offering a listening ear for those who need it. Ideally, you’ll be a parent carer yourself, and feel able to empathise, reassure and connect with others.
Peer Support ‘Talk & Chalk’ Volunteer
Are you a dad or male carer of a child or young person with SEND? Are you a good communicator and a compassionate listener? ‘Talk and Chalk’ is a relaxed space for dads and male carers to chat, play pool or snooker and connect with others. We’re looking for an extra volunteer to help facilitate sessions, support attendees and offer a listening ear.
Community Outreach Volunteer
Are you passionate about supporting parent carers of children with SEND? Do you enjoy engaging with people and speaking confidently in public? As a Community Outreach Volunteer, you’ll help raise awareness of our services by finding local venues to display our materials, coordinate distribution and represent SPCF by running stalls at events like school fairs.
Training Support Volunteer
Are you passionate about improving understanding of autism and ADHD? As a Training Support Volunteer, you’ll help deliver engaging sessions to professionals by preparing materials, supporting activities and creating a welcoming learning environment. This is a great role for someone who loves working with people and wants to help drive real change in how neurodiversity is understood and supported.
Documentation Review Volunteer
Do you have a keen eye for details? We are looking for volunteers to help review key documents sent to parent carers. Your input will help ensure that families receive clear, accessible, and well-presented information and enable us to influence SEND services, processes and procedures.
You can apply for these roles here.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss any of these roles please email: volunteering@sheffieldparentcarerforum.org.uk
