• Welcome to the Sheffield Parent Carer Forum

    • We are an independent group of parents and carers of children and young people (0-25) with special educational needs and disabilities. Our main aim is to ensure the needs of our children are met. We bring together parent carers from across Sheffield to provide mutual support, exchange information, and influence policy and practice. We have almost 3,000 members.

  • Information session: Introduction to Autism (ONLINE)

    • This is a virtual meeting for parents who are starting their exploration of autism: Whether you have recently received a diagnosis, are waiting for one, or perhaps you suspect that your child might be on the autism spectrum. We will discuss the main traits, challenges and strengths associated with autism and do a bit of myth busting, too.

No diagnosis required. Session not suitable for children. You must be a member of Sheffield Parent Carer Forum to attend – register here.

Booking essential. A Teams link will be circulated 24 hours before the meeting.

  • Workshop: Supporting families to access public services

    • This workshop, run by the charity Cerebra, aims to support families who are finding it difficult to access services in health, social care and education. The session will not offer legal advice or solve individual issues, but will look at general strategies to use to get the services families need. This will include work on case studies relating to direct payments, respite care, Disabled Facilities Grants, residential placements and school transport.

Please note: This session is not suitable for children. A free lunch will be provided – if you have any special dietary requirements, please let us know by leaving a comment on the booking form.
