• Welcome to the Sheffield Parent Carer Forum

    • We are an independent group of parents and carers of children and young people (0-25) with special educational needs and disabilities. Our main aim is to ensure the needs of our children are met. We bring together parent carers from across Sheffield to provide mutual support, exchange information, and influence policy and practice. We have over 2,700 members.

    • Need help? We have a wealth of information for parents. Choose a topic below:

  • Information session: Introduction to demand-avoidant behaviour (6th Dec)

    • Join us to explore what demand-avoidant behaviour is and what it looks like, how it differs from PDA, and what it feels like for a young person to experience it. Find out what we can do as parents to reduce demands and reduce stress for ourselves.

This information session has been developed in discussion with the nurses at Ryegate. The information provided is all from valuable/reliable sources. We will share resources and tools to support a young person who is demand avoidant, and there will be time for peer support and discussion at the end.

There is no charge for the session and no diagnosis is required. Please note, this session is not suitable for children. You must be a member of Sheffield Parent Carer Forum to attend – register here. Booking essential.
