• Welcome to the Sheffield Parent Carer Forum

    • We are an independent group of parents and carers of children and young people (0-25) with special educational needs and disabilities. Our main aim is to ensure the needs of our children are met. We bring together parent carers from across Sheffield to provide mutual support, exchange information, and influence policy and practice. We have almost 3,000 members.

On March 20th there will be a SEND parent/carer meeting (your young person does not need a diagnosis). We will discuss SEND at Chaucer, talk about any issues or concerns you have. We will also talk about burnout/fatigue and gather information you'd like the staff at school to understand on how it impacts your young person. Please email sharon.court@sheffieldparentcarerforum.org.uk for further info ... • Information session: Introduction to demand-avoidant behaviour (15th March)

    • Join us to explore what demand-avoidant behaviour is and what it looks like, how it differs from PDA, and what it feels like for a young person to experience it. Find out what we can do as parents to reduce demands and reduce stress for ourselves.

This information session has been developed in discussion with the nurses at Ryegate. The information provided is all from valuable/reliable sources. We will share resources and tools to support a young person who is demand avoidant, and there will be time for peer support and discussion at the end.

There is no charge for the session and no diagnosis is required. Please note, this session is not suitable for children. You must be a member of Sheffield Parent Carer Forum to attend – register here. Booking essential.
