Autism Education Support Service takes on extra staff

2nd April 2020

  • The Autism Education Support Service provides training, coaching and advice to mainstream schools, nurseries and colleges to help them meet the needs of learners with autism and related conditions. They have recently recruited six additional members of staff.

The extra capacity will allow the team to provide more support for children under the age of 5 and for post-16 students. They will also be able to offer increased support at key transition points, such as nursery to primary school, primary to secondary school, and secondary school to further education.

The team also supports parents through drop-ins in schools, a specialist parenting course called Cygnet, and a telephone advice line.

During the coronavirus crisis, you can contact the team by emailing autism.educationteam@sheffield.gov.uk. Please include your child’s name and date of birth, the name of their school, a contact phone number and your question or details of what you need advice on. If you don’t have access to email, you can leave a message with the same details on 0114 2506800 and someone will call you back.
