Could you be a parent carer representative?

18th November 2020

  • Do you feel passionate about improving local services for children and young people with additional needs and their families? Would you like to attend strategic meetings with the local authority and the health service to represent the voice of parent carers?

We are looking to expand our pool of parent carer representatives. Training and mentoring (including shadowing of experienced representatives) will be provided – we promise we won’t throw you in at the deep end!

Meetings usually take place during school hours, and reps normally attend one or two meetings per month. Due to the pandemic, all meetings are virtual at the moment, so you will need a PC, laptop, smartphone or tablet to take part. If you don’t have access to any of those, we may be able to help, so please don’t let that put you off applying!

We will reimburse any expenses you incur – such as additional data for your phone or travel expenses. We may also be able to pay you for your time; due to employment legislation, we can unfortunately only do this if you are self-employed.

Interested? Please email us at enquiries@sheffieldparentcarerforum.org.uk or call us on 0300 321 4721 to find out more.
