Forum to give evidence at CAMHS meeting

21st December 2012

  • Earlier this year, we reported on parents’ concerns regarding Sheffield’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). A particular worry were long waiting times, in some cases up to 44 weeks.

As a result of parental lobbying, the Council’s Healthier Communities and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Committee has now set up a working group to look at the evidence. This group will meet on the 22nd of January 2013 to hear verbal and written evidence from children and young people who have used the service, and their parents and carers.

Whether your child has recently used CAMHS, or is on the waiting list, or you couldn’t get a referral, we want to hear from you!

Please tell us about your experiences (good and bad) of:
    – getting a referral
    – waiting for an appointment
    – getting therapy sessions
    – being discharged from the service
    – transition to adult services
    – … and anything else you think we should know about!

We can use your stories anonymously if you prefer. Anyone wishing to be involved should email our Trustee Deborah Woodhouse on deborahhwoodhouse@hotmail.co.uk.
