• Holgate Meadows Special School in Parson Cross has reopened as Lotus Academy after joining the Nexus Multi-Academy Trust.

  The previous school, supporting young people aged 5 to 16 years with social, emotional and mental health needs and/or communication and interaction needs, had struggled with financial issues, amassing a debt of approximately £3 million.

  Holgate Meadows was rated “Inadequate” by Ofsted in March 2022 and put into special measures. A follow-up inspection in June 2024 noted significant improvements but concluded that more progress was necessary to lift the school out of special measures.

  Now reopened under the new name of Lotus Academy, the school has seen a change of leadership, major refurbishments and a revamped curriculum. It will continue to support all of the pupils who were previously attending Holgate Meadows.
