Summer holiday activities for disabled children

  • Performing Arts Workshops
    Equal voices and IBK Initiatives are running performing arts workshops for disabled and non disabled children and young people:
    Wed 24th to Fri 26th July, 11am to 3pm, for children under 7. Cost £20 per day (£15 for siblings) Click here to download a flyer

    ACCT (Asperger’s Children and Carers Together)
    ACCT are running summer holiday clubs for children (Acctivate) and teenagers. Children must be at least 8 years old to take part in the Acctivate activities. Children going into year 8 in September 2013 can attend either the Acctivate or Teenagers activities. Due to high demand, each child can book onto one week of activities.     All activities are free end will be held in the Pavilion Room at St Mary’s Community Centre, Bramall Lane, Sheffield S2 4QZ.

    Swimming Lessons for Children with Disabilities
    Activity Sheffield in partnership with the Disability Swimming Forum have organised one-to-one and small group swimming lessons for people with disabilities.
    Monday 29 July to Friday 2 August 2013. Half hour lesson between 3.30pm and 5.30pm.
    Venue:  Chapeltown Baths, Burncross Road Sheffield, S35 1RX
    Cost: one to one: £5 per lesson; one to two: £2.50 per lesson; one to four: £1.50 per lesson

    Inclusive Sport Sheffield
    Inclusive Sport Sheffield offers a range of activities for young people and adults with disabilities and additional needs, their friends and families:
    Sheffield Lightning Athletics Club – for young people with autism, ASD, ADHD and related disorders. Friends and siblings welcome. Thursdays 5pm to 6.30pm, EIS Sheffield.
    Leisure Time – for young people aged 16+ with learning disabilities. Activities include football, kwik cricket, boccia, bouncy castle, multi sensory room and much more. Fridays 10.30am -12.30pm, Concord Sports Centre.
    Sheffield Smashers Boccia Club – for young people with disabilities and additional needs.  Friends and siblings welcome. Saturday 31st Aug 5.45pm to 7.15pm, Ponds Forge.

    Burton Street Foundation
    REACT Youth Holiday Scheme

    The scheme works primarily with young people aged 13 – 19 who have a learning disability, physical disability or behavioural problems.  Activities include swimming, bowling, art, drama, dance, music workshops, cooking sessions, discos, museums visits and trips to the coast. Can also provide specialist one to one sessions using soft play, and more intensive work, on an individual basis for young people with profound learning disabilities.     “Dance Your Socks off” inclusive music festival
    Two stages of live music and theatre, plus DJ’s, art & crafts, soft and sensory play and much more. Saturday 27th July 1pm to 8pm Burton Street Foundation, 57 Burton Street Sheffield S6 2HH

    Links Summer Holiday Camp
    Links School Sport Partnership is running a sports camp at All Saints Sports Centre from Wednesday 24th July to Friday 26th July, 9am to 3.15pm with a range of different activities each day. The cost is £10 per day for each child and is open to any child between the ages of 5-11. They say they are inclusive with their activities and welcome children with special educational needs to attend the camp.

    Meersbrook Park Holiday Scheme
    Meersbrook Park After-School Club is running a two-week holiday playscheme between 5th and 16th August 2013, from 8.30am until 6pm, for children aged between 4 and 14. The cost is £20 for a full day, or £10 for half a day. The club have informed us that they have secured charitable funding to provide extra support for children with additional needs.
