From September 2014, the special educational needs (SEN) system will undergo the biggest overhaul in 30 years. The reforms will affect ALL youngsters with additional needs – wherever they are educated, and whether they have a statement of SEN or not.
Are you ready to support your child through these changes? Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about the reforms, and to start preparing NOW!
Get an overview. Speakers from the Department for Education and Sheffield City Council will provide an up-to-the-minute account of the government’s reform plans and their local implementation. (10am-11.20am)
Start preparing. Join us for a range of interesting workshops that will help you get to grips with the key concepts of the SEN reforms: the tools and principles of person-centred planning, the all-important concept of “outcomes”, and the legal rights of parents, children and young people in the new system. (11.30am-12.30pm & 1.15-2.15pm)
Get information and advice. Visit our information marketplace and chat to representatives from national and local support organisations (all day), or pop into our legal advice surgery to speak to a solicitor (to be confirmed).
